Minister Yusuf Ata Affirms Dangiwa’s Role in Advancing Housing Reforms.
Ex-Minister Arc. Dangiwa Credited With Measurable Deliverables.
Abuja, Nigeria - The Honourable Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, has issued a goodwill message to the former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, following his resignation from office on 21 April 2026.
Minister Ata described Arc. Dangiwa’s tenure as three years of impactful stewardship in the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
He noted that the former minister’s leadership advanced the federal government’s mandate to expand access to decent and affordable housing for Nigerians, in accordance with constitutional obligations and the policy thrust of the current administration.
According to Minister Ata, Arc. Dangiwa introduced ready-made policies and initiatives that strengthened the provision of affordable housing under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
These initiatives addressed critical gaps in housing finance, land titling, and urban renewal, and were structured to reach low and middle-income earners across the six geopolitical zones.
The policies, he said, were designed for effective service delivery and executed with a clear focus on measurable outcomes. Key performance indicators were tracked across projects, ensuring transparency and accountability in the deployment of public resources for housing development.
“Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa brought experience and expertise to the task of delivering nationwide housing reforms,” Minister Ata stated. “The results of those reforms show progressive growth in the sector, from policy formulation to project implementation across the federation. States have reported improved turnaround time for Certificates of Occupancy and increased investor confidence in housing corridors.”
Minister Ata further stated that Arc. Dangiwa carved a niche in public service by applying extensive experience in the built environment to make impactful service delivery a priority.
As an architect and former Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, his technical background enabled the ministry to align design standards with affordability targets.
He said the former minister’s work complemented the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to provide affordable housing for all Nigerians, in line with the administration’s priorities.
Collaboration between the ministry and private developers was deepened, resulting in the delivery of housing units under public-private partnership frameworks.
Under Arc. Dangiwa’s leadership, the ministry pursued reforms in land administration, strengthened collaboration with state governments through the National Council on Lands, and scaled up partnerships for housing delivery.
Minister Ata noted that these interventions improved coordination between federal and subnational actors in the housing sector. Regular sector retreats and technical meetings fostered consensus on land use, building approvals, and slum upgrade interventions in urban centres.
The Minister of State also emphasized that Arc. Dangiwa’s calm demeanour, professional composure, and consistent emphasis on ‘deliverables’ set a standard for performance within the ministry. He said the former minister’s approach to public presentations and policy execution left a strong impression on staff and stakeholders, reinforcing a culture of results and institutional discipline.
“On behalf of the ministry, I acknowledge Arc. Dangiwa’s service and his contribution to the institutional growth of the housing sector,” Minister Ata said. “His stewardship will be remembered for its focus, discipline, and alignment with national development goals. The templates established will guide ongoing programmes.”
The Minister also used the medium to wish Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa success in his future endeavours.
He expressed confidence that the former minister’s experience would continue to serve the nation in other capacities, given his record of commitment to public service.
The Minister of State, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to sustain and build upon the reforms initiated under Arc. Dangiwa’s leadership, in furtherance of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The ministry will maintain policy continuity while introducing innovations to deepen housing access.
