Housing PPP Summit's Outcomes To Form Our Strategic Plan - Darma
Housing and Urban Development, Minister, Engr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma,PhD has declared that the outcomes of the Renewed Hope Housing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Summit will form a critical part of the Ministry’s Strategic Plan aimed at transforming housing delivery and driving economic growth in Nigeria.
Dr. Darma made this declaration ministerial address during the second edition of the Renewed Hope Housing PPP Summit (2.0) held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, Tuesday, May 12th, 2026
The summit, themed “From Policy to Projects: Financing and Delivering Housing at Scale through PPPs,” brought together key stakeholders from government institutions, private sector organisations, financial institutions, developers, and development partners to discuss sustainable housing solutions for Nigerians.
The Minister disclosed that the Ministry’s Strategic Plan would be officially unveiled by the end of May following the successful completion of consultations and engagements with departments and agencies under the Ministry.
According to him, the strategic framework will provide clear direction for the implementation of housing policies and projects through effective collaboration with the private sector and other critical stakeholders.
“Whatever plan we come up with, we will pursue diligently to ensure that it delivers meaningful results for Nigerians,” he stated.
Highlighting ongoing achievements under the Renewed Hope Housing Programme, the Minister revealed that ongoing constructions of housing units in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, Lambu in Kano State and Karsana in Abuja, will be commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu upon completion
The Minister further stated that beyond completing existing projects, the Ministry intends to scale up housing delivery nationwide by building a sustainable housing framework anchored on strong PPP models, innovative financing mechanisms, and inclusive participation This he ssid " would ensure that thousands of Nigerians would soon become homeowners, with roofs over their heads as these housing projects continue to expand nationwide,” he stated
He noted that the projects have significantly contributed to job creation by engaging thousands of artisans, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and other professionals across the construction sector, while also stimulating economic activities in host communities.
Accordingly, the Minister also announced that the Ministry, in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund, is currently delivering 1,550 housing units for military personnel as part of efforts to improve the welfare and living conditions of members of the Armed Forces.
While acknowledging the progress made so far, Dr. Darma stressed the need to complete all ongoing projects within reasonable timelines and according to the highest standards.
“We remain fully committed to the timely completion and commissioning of all ongoing Renewed Hope Housing Projects across the country,” he assured.
The Minister urged financial institutions to develop flexible and accessible housing finance products that address the realities of Nigerians and encouraged state governments to provide land and create enabling environments that support efficient housing development.
Darma reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to advancing the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda through strategic partnerships and policies that will ensure Nigerians have access to decent, affordable, and sustainable housing.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Shuaib Belgore commended the Minister Engr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma,
for supporting the Summit and ensuring its continuity despite the recent leadership transition.
He explained that the Summit’s theme “From Policy to Projects,” will focus on execution challenges, including structuring bankable projects, mobilizing finance, securing land access, and building partnerships that deliver housing units at scale.
Major highlights of the summit was the official launch of the Renewed Hope Housing Magazine, a publication designed to serve as a strategic communication platform for documenting the Ministry’s progress, showcasing projects, highlighting investment opportunities, and strengthening stakeholder engagement within the housing sector.
The magazine also reflects the Ministry’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustained public communication.
